Gold-Standard Gender Dysphoria Assessments That Truly Support Your Journey

Our team of compassionate clinical psychologists have years of experience working with transgender and non-binary clients in NHS, university, and community mental health settings. We've published research with trans individuals, developed the UK’s first group therapy programme specifically for trans people, and delivered hundreds of diagnostic assessments to support access to gender-affirming care.

We follow NHS-aligned and WPATH-informed protocols, ensuring every assessment is respectful, person-centred, and clinically robust.

We currently offer:

  • Private gender dysphoria assessments

  • Psychological reports for medical transition pathways

  • Emotional support and post-diagnosis signposting

Appointments are available in Warwickshire, Birmingham, and online across the UK. We also offer a free 20-minute consultation to help you decide whether an assessment is right for you.

What does a private gender dysphoria assessment involve?

We offer comprehensive gender dysphoria assessments that follow both WPATH and NHS guidelines. If appropriate, your assessment can support access to hormone therapy, gender-affirming surgery, or other medical transition pathways.

What’s Included in the Assessment?

Your assessment will involve a respectful and in-depth exploration of your gender identity and related experiences, including:

  • Listening to and understanding your gender journey

  • Exploring how gender dysphoria has presented throughout your life

  • Reviewing your mental and physical health history

  • Discussing your current needs, goals, and hopes for transition

  • Assessing your understanding of gender dysphoria and informed consent for medical steps

How Long Does It Take?

The assessment typically takes up to 3 hours and may be split across one or two sessions. You will also be asked to complete questionnaires in advance to support the clinical process.

What Will You Receive?

At the end of your assessment, you'll receive:

  • A formal clinical report confirming a gender dysphoria diagnosis (if appropriate)

  • Personalised recommendations for next steps

  • Referral support for gender-affirming medical care (e.g. hormones or surgery)

Our reports are widely accepted by NHS GICs, private clinics, and GPs providing shared care.

Will My Private Gender Dysphoria Assessment Be Accepted by My GP or NHS?

Many people ask whether a private gender dysphoria diagnosis will be accepted by their GP, an NHS Gender Identity Clinic (GIC), or a private hormone prescriber. It’s a valid concern — and the short answer is: yes, when assessments meet the right clinical standards.

All our reports follow the WPATH guidelines and NHS-recommended diagnostic criteria. Our psychologists are HCPC-registered and have previous NHS experience, meaning our assessments match the standards required by:

  • NHS GICs

  • Private HRT prescribers

  • Insurance providers (including Bupa)

  • GPs supporting shared care agreements

To date, our reports have been consistently accepted without issue.

Cooperation With Providers

We are happy to contact your provider directly — whether they’re NHS or private — to explain our assessment process, confirm qualifications, and check whether they will accept the report. In most cases, our reports speak for themselves.

Pro Tip for GPs

We recommend speaking to your GP early, especially if you're hoping for a shared care agreement. This means your GP may take over the prescribing of private HRT — potentially saving you money long term.
