OVERVIEW
About this Assessment
Autism (clinically known as Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)) is a life-long, neurodevelopmental condition. Autism involves differences in social communication and interaction, such as finding it hard to understand, navigate and engage with social situations. It also comes with at least some of the following: differences in sensory processing such as strong preferences or distress; rigid and repetitive behaviours and thinking, such as routines and perfectionism; and specialist interests.
Autism may be identified in childhood, though we know much more about how people may mask their autistic traits, or adapt, which can become tiring. This means that some autistic people do not identify their traits until later in life, into adulthood. It may be that times of change, transitions or increased social or external pressures make underlying struggles more obvious.
Our gold standard, detailed autism assessments helps to identify autistic traits alongside masking to enable a diagnosis and support. If you need information and support for autism-related needs, we have a range of autism resources and self-help courses.

Who is this assessment for?
WHAT TO EXPECT
What’s included in your assessment
Our approach: Our autism assessments follow the NICE clinical guidelines and are conducted by fully qualified, HCPC-registered clinical psychologists. This means they are NHS standard, with our assessors all having worked in the NHS.
Our autism assessments for adults are designed to identify whether your experiences are consistent with autism and how they’ve shaped your life over time. We’ll also explore masking, which is when people suppress or camouflage their traits to fit into a neurotypical world, something commonly reported by autistic women and LGBTQ+ adults.
We specialise in gender-informed assessments. That means recognising how autism may present differently in men, women, and transgender and non-binary people, and ensuring that our process is affirming for men, women and our trans and gender-diverse clients. Understanding how gender and neurodivergence intersect is a key part of our assessment approach.
Optional 1-hour screening assessment if unsure (£150 cost)
A 4-hour consultation (in person or online)
Full developmental and mental health history
Psychometric testing, including the Autism Clinical Interview for Adults (ACIA)

Taking the step to seek psychological support can feel daunting, and finding the right person matters. I believe that meaningful support starts with genuinely understanding the person in front of you, not just the presenting problem. With over 15 years of experience across NHS and private settings, including acute inpatient hospital care, community mental health, and Children and Young People's services, I aim to offer a space that feels both clinically rigorous and genuinely welcoming. I offer psychological therapy drawing on a variety of evidenced based approaches, alongside neurodevelopmental assessments for adults, with a particular interest in ADHD and autism, delivered with a neuro-affirming approach. I hold a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, am a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society.
