Therapy for Men in Warwick, Leamington Spa and Online Across the UK

Learn about our therapy services from our founder, Dr Alastair Pipkin

Opening up about emotions or mental health as a man can be incredibly difficult.
Many men fear judgement — fear not being seen as strong or capable. We're taught that talking about feelings isn’t "manly", and often those around us don’t quite understand what we’re going through.

At Unlock Psychology Ltd, we specialise in therapy for men and male mental health support. Our doctoral-trained clinical psychologists offer private, evidence-based help — whether through assessment, CBT therapy, or ongoing support tailored to your needs.

We’ve led published research on men’s mental health, designed and delivered men’s therapy groups, and have male therapists experienced in working with:

  • Anger, stress, burnout

  • Anxiety and low mood

  • Emotional shutdown or avoidance (e.g. overworking, drinking, substance use)

You are not alone — and you don’t need to keep pushing through.

If you’re a man seeking therapy and would like to speak confidentially with a clinical psychologist, we’d be glad to help.

Why Some Men Prefer Male Therapists

Many men feel more comfortable opening up to a male therapist — especially when discussing topics like emotions, masculinity, or personal struggles.

There’s often a shared understanding of:

  • How men are taught to manage emotions through avoidance or over-performance

  • The impact of masculine norms on help-seeking

  • Common challenges around anger, sadness, emotional control, or pressure to “stay strong”

At Unlock Psychology Ltd, our male therapists have specific training and expertise in men’s mental health.

We’ve worked in male-focused NHS services, conducted academic research on men’s mental health, and use the latest evidence-based approaches such as CBT and Compassion-Focused Therapy.

If you’re looking for a therapist who truly understands the unique emotional landscape many men face — we're here to help.
